the Pacific,
breeze gently delivers spring to Taiwan,
hundred flower blossoming and sprawling.
Across the ocean, Vancouver mountain,
the Taiwanese girl is traversing the ice fields.
Having a sip of glacier water,
the sweetness tells her an idea…

I grew up in Houlong, an urban township nestled in the picturesque landscapes of western Miaoli County, Taiwan. A rich tradition of healing courses through my family's history, stemming from my great-grandfather, a distinguished Chinese Medicine Doctor. This ancestral legacy has been faithfully passed down through the generations, shaping our identity and guiding our path.
While my grandfather chose the life of a fisherman, my father embraced the legacy of his forebears, following in the footsteps of my great-grandfather to become a Chinese Medicine Doctor. Before embarking on his professional journey, he served with honour in the army's medical department, providing vital support to the medical team tasked with addressing a myriad of injuries. It was within this environment of service and dedication that he honed his skills and deepened his understanding of the human body's resilience and fragility.
Despite the illustrious heritage that surrounded me, I harboured a reluctance towards traditional Chinese Medicine due to its bitter taste. This aversion often hindered my recovery from sickness, prompting my parents to embark on a quest for a more palatable solution tailored to my needs. Through painstaking research and experimentation, they formulated the Hundred Flower Syrup—a harmonious blend of hundreds of Chinese herbs fortified with the natural sweetness of honey was crafted to boost the immune system and combat viruses. Since its inception before my second birthday, the Hundred Flower Syrup has remained a cornerstone of my father's clinic, revered by patients far and wide for its efficacy and pleasing taste.
From the first sip, I was captivated by its delightful flavour as a child, and to this day, I keep a bottle or two in my cabinet. Whenever I feel under the weather, it serves as my trusted remedy, offering both comfort and relief—a testament to the enduring power of tradition, innovation, and familial devotion.
When I met Dr. Martin in Vancouver, we shared the same belief in innovative bioprocessing technology and came together to create a new beverage blended with living cells of nature herbs and local glacier water…
